Alice Halpern has a very comfortable life. She lives in a nice Brooklyn neighborhood, is the mother of two beautiful, healthy children and is now pregnant with twins.
She often meets her closest friend, Lauren at the local playground each day, letting the smaller children play, while waiting for the older ones to get out of school.
This cozy, well organized life is about to come crashing down around her. One day Lauren, now also nine months pregnant, fails to show up at the playground. She also does not show up to pick up her son at school.
Alice's world is now upside down, Lauren is missing, no one knows where she is and now Alice feels as if someone is watching her. The police question everyone and soon Alice realizes that the people that she has loved and trusted are on the growing list of suspects. Who can Alice trust and what must she do to keep her family safe?
This book was well written with the threats and suspense growing on every page. Author Kate Pepper has written a nail biting winner.
