Mystery P.I.: Stolen in San Francisco

The setting of this game is San Francisco, complete with the famous cable cars and other recognizable city locations. An armored car robbery has resulted in $250 million in gold bullion being stolen. The gold's owner hires a private investigator (you, the player) to follow the clues, solve the case, and recover the missing gold.

This is a hidden object style game.

The artwork is crisp and clean and captures the charm of the city. The scenes look like the artists used real location photographs then added their own touches to provide the hidden objects. Residents and tourists familiar with San Francisco will recognize the various settings; Alcatraz, the Haight-Ashbury district, Chinatown, the Golden Gate Bridge, and the famous cable cars.

Locating the various hidden objects was more difficult than solving the puzzles. For me, that was a plus. I prefer to spend more time in search of the hidden objects than trying to solve puzzles; although I did enjoy the match three puzzles and the word puzzles included in this game.

List price: $ 9.99. I chose this game when I earned a free game after purchasing several other games. I opted for the game to be sent to me via CD (for an additional $7.99 fee - which was discounted $1.00) because I only have dial-up internet access, and downloading games directly from the Big Fish website requires a lot of time (and aggravation if my internet connection keeps dropping out!). The CD arrived 2 days after my online order. The game quickly and easily uploaded/installed to my computer and then I activated it online at the Big Fish website. To me, the added fee is worth the added cost because of my very slow dial-up access! In addition to the game I ordered, the CD contained one full-sized free game and several trial-size games.
