Chuck Restic is a successful HR manager at a large corporation in Los Angeles but he’s dissatisfied with his life. He feels he’s just been going through the motions without really contributing anything worthwhile in his 20-year career. However, when an employee from his firm goes missing, it ignites a new sense of purpose in Restic. It leads him to moonlighting as a private detective and he finds he has an aptitude for it. His HR skills are an asset and he feels invigorated once again.
THE SILENT SECOND is a quick, fun read. Readers will be rooting for Restic as soon as they meet him in the opening pages of the book. I especially liked his sense of humor and the first person narrative.
This is the first novel in the Chuck Restic series. Though a Human Resources manager may seem like an unlikely sleuth, he will undoubtedly attract lots of readers.
The sequel, THE PERPETUAL SUMMER, is scheduled for release in January, 2018.
