Half-Baked in Fairview
A Sheriff Marge Crump Mystery
By S. Furlong-Bolliger
Since the only possibility was that one of the staff stole the ring, Marge knew they wouldn't risk having it in their possession in case of a
search. Marge became suspicions of Gretchen when she double crossed herself by first claiming she hadn't been in the office, then saying
she'd seen Jake in the office talking on the phone. Since the office was located down the hallway and not visible from the front of the
bakery, Gretchen would have had to go inside it to see Jake on the phone. Plus, what better way to smuggle a ring out of the bakery than
inside a cream-filled puff pastry? When confronted with the slip, Gretchen admitted to placing the ring inside a marked pastry her sister
planned to intercept at the auxiliary luncheon.
