Marilyn Coombs said she was doing delicate hand sewing when she looked out her window and saw someone run into the woods. She also admitted the streetlight was out and the street was dark.

But to do delicate sewing, the lights would have to be on in her sewing room, and it's impossible to see out into a dark street from a room where the lights are on.

Ms. Coombs was Crawford's blackmail victim, and she killed him to keep him quiet. That also explains why the shots were heard at nine, but the police weren't called until 9:10. Ms. Coombs needed time to get back into her house and hide the gun after shooting Crawford.
