Jesse Stone. Paradise. A missing girl, a contract hit, and Jesse trying to protect both the target and the hit man.

I like the movies, starring Tom Selleck, which are based on some of the novels and now the character of Jesse Stone, better than the written stories. Parker has legions of fans so he won't lose money on my complaints, but his writing style drives me crazy. All the "he said, she said" tags (actually it's more of "...Jesse said. ...Amber said. ...Jenn said," but you get the idea.) make me want to throw the book at the nearest wall. Perhaps the fault is entirely mine. I'm a fast reader and Parker's writing style slows me down, uncomfortably, to the point that I lose enjoyment reading his prose. I've been told by friends who also find the writing style annoying, that it works better if you read the books aloud. Maybe, but I don't like reading out loud either. Bottom line. If you're already a fan of Robert B. Parker's then you will most likely enjoy this book. I've nothing against the plot, just the writing style.
