- She will be giving a talk on what beekeeping means to her and also her award winning

- Best-selling author Carol Soret Cope's new book, Murder on The High Seas, The True
- Story of The Joe Cool's Tragic Final Voyage
has been picked up by NBC Universal for- an episode on the book for their true-crime series called "Fatal Encounters." The series explores
- the intersection of innocence and evil and tragic consequences for those caught up in the random,
- fatal encounters. Production on the episode took place November 14-18 in locations throughout
- Miami-Dade and on the ocean.
- Carol Soret Cope is the bestselling author of In the Fast Lane: A True Story of Murder in Miami and
- Stranger Danger: How to Keep Your Child Safe. Ms. Cope's latest book, Murder on The High Seas,
- The True Story of The Joe Cool's Tragic Final Voyage
explores the investigation into the mysterious- murders aboard the Joe Cool, a "ghost ship" — a luxury forty-seven-foot sport-fisher which simply
- disappeared on a sunny Saturday in September 2007 on what should have been a quick, one-way trip from
- Miami Beach to Bimini in the Bahamas to drop off two charter passengers. The young charter captain Jake
- Branam, his wife, his brother and a friend were never seen again. Ms. Cope has done an outstanding job of
- detailing the tragic tale as it unfolded in Miami, out at sea, in Miami Federal Court, and ending with a chilling
- face-to-face interview with one of the killers.
- The 13th Love is Murder Conference returns to Chicago next month, February 3-5 at the
- Intercontinental Chicago O'Hare Hotel.
- The Midwest's premier mystery conference includes three days of panel discussions, beginning with
- "Til the Last Perp Walks" — presentations by 13 forensic experts in crime scene investigation,
- computer fraud, money laundering, guns and weapons, poisons, the "blood splatter guy" and more.
- This year's featured authors at the conference are Donald Bain (author of the Muder She Wrote and Coffee,
- Tea or Me? series), Julie James (A Lot Like Love, Something About You), David Morrell (The Naked Edge, The
- Shimmer), and Hank Phillippi Ryan (The Other Woman, Drive Time and the Charlotte McNally series); and
- Local Featured Author Julie Hyzy (the Alex St. James, White House Chef and Manor House series).

- Killer Nashville announces their 2012 Guests of Honor:
- New York Times bestselling mystery and thriller author C.J. Box and legendary
- horror and thriller author Peter Straub.
- C.J. Box is the author of thirteen novels, including several standalone thrillers
- and a popular series featuring heroic park ranger Joe Pickett. A Wyoming native
- and avid outdoorsman, Box uses his knowledge of the great outdoors to bring his
- books to life. He has won the Edgar Alan Poe Award for Best Novel, (Blue Heaven,
- 2009) as well as the Anthony Award, the Macavity Award, the Gumshoe Award, the

- novels, and thrillers. One of the century's most honored horror writers, he has received
- numerous literary awards, including the World Fantasy Award and the International Horror
- Guild Award. Straub's first novel, Marriages, was published in 1973, but it was his fifth,
- Ghost Story, that catapulted onto the national bestseller lists and made him a household
- name. Stephen King, with whom Straub collaborated on two fantasy novels, called Ghost Story
- one of the best horror novels of the latter half of the 20th century. Straub's most recent thriller,
- A Dark Matter, was released in February, 2010 and won a Bram Stoker Award for Best Novel.
- Straub and Box will each do a one-hour interview or presentation, along with a book signing
- and a presentation at the Guest of Honor/Awards banquet, joining the ranks of past Killer Nashville
- Guests of Honor Carol Higgins Clark, Michael Connelly, J.A. Jance, Body Farm creator Dr. Bill Bass,
- Jeffery Deaver, Donald Bain, and Robert Dugoni.
- Held annually on the weekend surrounding the fourth Saturday in August, Killer Nashville was created
- in 2006 to bring together forensic experts, writers, and fans of crime and thriller literature. Killer Nashville

- 2012 NERO AWARDS ANNOUNCED
- The Nero Award is presented each year to an author for the
- best mystery written in the tradition of Rex Stout's Nero Wolfe
- stories. It is presented at the Black Orchid Banquet, traditionally
- held on the first Saturday in December in New York City. The Nero
- Award celebrates literary excellence in the mystery genre.
- This year, the winner is BURY YOUR DEAD by Louise Penny
- published by Minotaur Books, an imprint of St. Martin's.
- The Black Orchid Novella Award is presented jointly by The Wolfe Pack
- and Alfred Hitchcock Mystery Magazine to celebrate the Novella format
- popularized by Rex Stout.
- This year's winner is James Lincoln Warren for "Inner Fire."
