The crime? Murder on a snow-bound train. The suspects? Nearly everyone on board. The detective? None other than Hercule Poirot, himself.

The setting? 1930s Europe, on board the famous Orient Express. The wintry scenery is breath-taking. The train's interior is lavish and makes one wish they, too, were on-board. The cast is a stunning group of accomplished actors including Lauren Bacall, Martin Balsam, Ingrid Bergman, Jacqueline Bisset, Sean Connery, John Gielgud, Wendy Hiller, Anthony Perkins, Vanessa Redgrave, Richard Widmark, Michael York, and Albert Finney (as Poirot).

The DVD provides some commentary from the director about the challenges of casting and filming. He even mentions how Agatha Christie enjoyed the production. (She was notorious for her disapproval of other film renditions of her characters and works.)

My only complaint, and I know I'm in the minority on this, I hated Albert Finney's portrayal of Poirot. Give me Peter Ustinov as Poirot any day, or David Suchet everyday!
