THRILLED TO DEATH
By L. J. Sellers

An unstable young mother with a three-month-old baby goes missing. Has she abandoned her baby or is she missing for another reason?
It's too early for the police to be involved, officially, but Detective Jackson checks out the usual places a 20-year-old might hang out. He asks a few questions and checks out the missing girl's apartment without any luck. He only did that much because a friend asked for his help. Kera is the baby's grandmother, and she is also the woman Jackson has been infatuated with for the past eight months. Danette had dropped little Micah off that morning so Kera could babysit while she went to an appointment. Danette never came back. Jackson wanted to do more but his best advice, he told Kera, was to wait the required 24 hours, then officially report her missing. If she hadn't come back by then. Secretly he wondered if Danette had simply run away or was she dead and buried somewhere...
L. J. Sellers is a wonderful storyteller, reminiscent of the early writings of J. A. Jance. There are plenty of twists and turns in the story. The characters are well-developed and engaging. Readers new to the series can begin with THRILLED TO DEATH and then go back to the other books in the series. It's a fast read. Perfect for summer reading. The first page will grab the reader's attention and from there, it's an exciting read all the way through to the final page.
I only have two selfish quibbles. I wish the author would write faster -- two books a year would be nice. And, I wish someone would make this series into a TV show!
This is the third Detective Wade Jackson mystery. THE SEX CLUB and SECRETS TO DIE FOR were the first two in the series. (Please click on the title(s) to read a review.)
