CRIMES OF MEMORY:

In CRIMES OF MEMORY two cases intertwine; the death of a transient and an eco-terrorist attack.
Detective Jackson is pursuing his job with less enthusiasm than he has in the past which is to be expected considering the events that transpired in his recent past (detailed in the previous book in this series, RULES OF CRIME). Has he burned out as a police officer? Is it time for his retirement?
Sometimes a series winds down to an end, even though the loyal fans cry out for more, yet from the author's viewpoint there just isn't any more. It may be a case of the author having brought the main character through an arc that leaves nothing more to tell. It may be that an author wants to write about a different character; be it a new series character or a stand-alone book. Or it may just be a case of the author simply not telling a story that captures the readers' imagination. Most long-running series eventually produce one or two books that don't quite hold up to the readers' scrutiny or expectations but then the series bounces back.
This author has wowed fans time and again with her outstanding storytelling abilities both in the Detective Wade Jackson series and her stand-alone novels. While CRIMES OF MEMORY is not the strongest entry into the series, it will please some fans but may disappoint others.
At this point in the series, I would encourage readers who have not read the previous books to do so, or at least begin reading before RULES OF CRIME and CRIMES OF MEMORY.
Detective Jackson series: THE SEX CLUB, SECRETS TO DIE FOR, THRILLED TO DEATH, PASSIONS OF THE DEAD, DYING FOR JUSTICE, LIARS, CHEATERS & THIEVES, RULES OF CRIME and CRIMES OF MEMORY.
