EVIDENCE OF MURDER
By Lisa Black
William Morrow, September, 2009 ($24.99)
Reviewed by Cherie Jung
A woman's body is found in the woods. The autopsy doesn't reveal a clear cause of death. The primary theory is that she succumbed to the cold temperature after wandering into the woods. Forensic investigator Theresa MacLean has a hunch that this isn't a simple case of accidental death but there are no clues indicating otherwise.
This is the second book in the series and even better than the first, in my opinion. Suspense fans will enjoy unraveling the case along with Theresa. The author has created a plucky female investigator who will have readers eagerly awaiting new cases.
Readers who have not read TAKEOVER, the first book in the series, will be able to begin reading the series with EVIDENCE OF MURDER without fear of not being able to follow the storyline however, some characters in the first book are not in the second. If you are a reader who prefers not to know what happened to a character before you read about it then you will want to read the series in order of publication or else some of the tension in TAKEOVER may be spoiled.
According to publicity information, the author is a latent fingerprint examiner in Florida, a former forensic scientist for the Cleveland coroner's office, and has testified at more than 45 homicide trials.
