Abby Knight, owner of the Blossom Flower Shop, starts the day bubbling over with happiness. She loves her job, she's just gotten engaged to the hunky Marco Salvare, ex-Navy Seal, bar owner and private investigator, and the future looks bright. Then she runs over a cat and the day goes downhill from then on. The cat survives and she becomes its reluctant caretaker while she searches for its owner. She finds out her somewhat overbearing mother-in-law-to-be, who was visiting Marco, has decided to stick around and take over the wedding plans. Abby suspects one of her regular customers is involved in something shady, and one of her employees is a person of interest in a high-profile murder. And all that happens before supper!

Grace, the employee who was first on the scene of her wealthy friend's murder, asks Abby and Marco to find the real killer and clear her name. Marco and Abby, who has had some experience in crime-solving, agree. They have a wide field of suspects, including the woman's lazy, spoiled children, her greedy daughter-in-law, and her handsome and charming chauffeur. Cats and some woo-woo elements play a part in the investigation, and the investigators and the police play nicely together.

This is the twelfth Flower Shop Mystery. There are lots of well-drawn, likable and not-so-likable characters, plenty of flower lore and legend, and a nice, twisty plot.
