I don't want to give away any details that might spoil the enjoyment of this book for readers. It is a complex and well written mystery that will have readers clamoring for more from talented writer, John M. Daniel. Personally, I was first attracted by the setting — I adore Northern California and used bookstores! I also enjoyed the overall writing skills of the author; good dialogue, precise pacing, droll humor, memorable characters, plus an intriguing and compelling story.
Readers who enjoy BEHIND THE REDWOOD DOOR will likely want to read other novels by this author. THE POET'S FUNERAL (Poisoned Pen Press, 2005) and VANITY FIRE (Poisoned Pen Press, 2006) feature Guy Mallon. PLAY MELANCHOLY BABY (Perseverance Press 1986) is a murder mystery set in California, 1977.
