This is another of my all-time favorites...tied for first place with "The Black Bird." As with "The Black Bird," repeated viewings enhance the humor in this spy/thriller/comedy.

Terry Doollittle (Whoopi Goldberg) works for a bank as a computer operator who transfers money between banking instiutions, internationally. Generally, it's a boring and thankless job. A bit of excitment pops into her life one evening as she is ending her day's transfers. A cryptic, coded message pops up on her computer screen from an unknown source. Terry must solve the riddle to get the code that will allow her to chat with the sender who turns out to be a British spy (Jonathan Pryce), caught behind the Iron Curtain and in imminent peril of death.

The spy, Jack (as in "Jumpin' Jack Flash") wants to know if Terry can help him get in contact with the British embassy. Reluctantly she takes on the task and soon finds herself embroiled in a deadly game of cat and mouse. She is the scampering mouse.

Everything about this movie works for me. I love the one-liners, and the slapstick. The supporting cast is amazing. I found the underlying spy business to be a perfect frame to showcase these talented actors and actresses. It's a fun story and a fun movie.

Whoopi's impersonation of Mick Jagger is worth the price of the DVD as far as I'm concerned.

One other technical note. Both a full screen version and a wide screen version are included on this DVD.
