Author of the popular Derrick Storm series, Richard Castle introduces his newest character, NYPD Homicide Detective Nikki Heat. Apparently there is a tie-in TV program on ABC called "Castle" that features an NYPD cop who is assigned a writer to "ride-along" with the on-duty cop so the writer can gain "real life experience" in what it's all about to be a cop and therefore write a better book. I haven't watched the TV program (yet) but I'm told by a fan that it's a satisfying and fun program. (Now in it's second season.)

In HEAT WAVE magazine journalist Jameson Rook is assigned to ride along with Detective Nikki Heat. He is researching an article on NYPD's "finest." She is investigating the death of a real estate tycoon who plunged to his death on a sidewalk in Manhattan. The ensuing investigation is complicated and not just by the tension between Heat and Rook.

This book sizzles. Once you begin reading, you won't want to put it down for any reason. I look forward to more cases involving Detective Nikki Heat. (I'm also going to check out the TV program called "Castle.")
