An Afton Tangler thriller
Reviewed by Cherie Jung
Afton Tangler is a family liaison officer for the Minneapolis Police Department. Her partner is Detective Max Montgomery. They had just left an unproductive neighborhood “victims’ rights” meeting in the university district when “all available personnel” were ordered by police dispatch to the site of an explosion several blocks from their present location.
As the case develops, Afton and her partner must investigate family members and business associates of an ailing business tycoon – someone wants him dead. Who and why become the imperative. The closer Afton gets to the truth, the more danger lurks for her.
This is the first book I’ve read in this series though I’ve read and enjoyed nearly all of the books Ms. Schmitt has written as Laura Childs. I am not at all surprised that she is as adept at writing thrillers as she is at writing cozies. Good storytelling is good storytelling.
Afton Tangler is a feisty character. I look forward to more adventures with her.
LITTLE GIRL GONE is the first book in the Afton Tangler thriller series.
Writing as Laura Childs, the author also writes three popular cozy mystery series; The Tea Shop mysteries, the Scrapbooking mysteries, and the Cackleberry Club mysteries.
