GRIM TALES: THE FINAL SUSPECT (Collector’s Edition)
by Cherie Jung
Aunt Gray has a special ability to view past events through a person’s possessions. She has used this skill to help the police solve crimes in the past but this time, she is the prime suspect for the murder of a young man she claims to not remember, who was found murdered in her house. Her niece Jackie wants to defend the case but Aunt Gray isn’t sure her niece is entirely innocent.
The game player is tasked with exploring the crime scene, looking for clues to jog Aunt Gray’s memory, and solve the murder of Howard Kelly.
The game involves some time-travel, or flash backs to the past if you prefer, and there’s a witch’s curse. While I was vaguely aware of the supernatural aspect of the game, I wasn’t prepared for the abysmally slow pace of the game. Plus, in the first go round, my version of the game had a big glitch that would not allow me to progress beyond an early portion of the game. I wasn’t able to display the clues for Aunt Gray as she rested in her hospital bed so I couldn’t advance to searching the victim’s apartment. That issue was quickly resolved when Big Fish provided a bug free update for the game. After downloading and installing the update, and having to start all over at the beginning, I was able to progress but the slow pacing continued to be frustrating and annoying.
This game is part of a series of games called GRIM TALES featuring the Gray family. THE FINAL SUSPECT is the only game I’ve played in the series, and the only game in the series I plan to play. (I should have tried the game out in the offered “free trial,” as I advise others to do.) Other gamers and reviewers have given the game good marks. It’s just not my cup of tea, as they say.
This is a Hidden Object/Adventure game. I consider myself to be an intermediate computer games player.
PC version – also available on Mac
Price: $19.99 USD however discounts may apply depending on the player’s account. For example, I received the game for no charge because I used some of my credits.
You can download a free sample of any game and play it for an hour before deciding if you want to purchase the entire game. I strongly recommend that you do so. There’s no sense buying a game and hating it when the Big Fish folks will let you try it for free. Also, reading comments in the forum area (each game has one) can also give you an idea about what other players think of the game.
This game is from ELEPHANT GAMES, another of my favorite game designers. They usually do high quality graphics, good storylines, interesting and challenging puzzle and HOGs (Hidden Object Games).
