This is an excellent series set in Hastings, England during World War II. It is written from an interesting perspective; the police investigating crime, when the country is at war. It shows how everyday life carried on, even though the world was in chaos.

DCI Christopher Foyle, along with Sergeant Milner, who lost a leg while fighting in Norway, investigate crime in Hastings. They are aided by their driver Samantha Stewart, who is a little more inquisitive than her boss would like her to be, but it makes for some humorous dialogue.

I believe this series will appeal to all age groups. It was well researched, and unless you are an historian, or someone who lived through WWII, you will probably not pick up on any of the anomalies in the production.

You don't need to see the five seasons in sequence to understand what is going on, as each show is an individual story within itself. However, once you watch one of the shows I'm sure you'll get hooked and want to see more, and in that, it is always nice to see the series from the beginning to get a better understanding of the characters.
