What do you do when your partner in crime is nabbed after a heist and implicated in a murder? Get him a good lawyer of course. Even if your partner is a German Shepard...
Billy Zimmerman is an Iraq war vet and former cop-turned-thief. His partner, Milo, is a trained police dog. Former police dog. Billy and Milo were partners before, when Billy was a cop.
Billy and Milo were waiting and watching a man outside the Skybar on River Road in Edgewater, New Jersey. Before the two could pull off their intended caper, things went wrong. Very wrong. A man was dead and Billy was nabbed for being on the scene. Milo took off but didn't get far, although by the time the cops got him, he'd hidden a key piece of evidence. Now he's in the doggie slammer awaiting a possible execution. He needs a good lawyer.
Andy Carpenter is just the man (and lawyer) Milo desperately needs. And Andy needs Milo to help solve the crime but first he has to convince a judge that his client, a dog, has rights and must be released from doggie jail.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The author has a relaxed, almost conversational writing style that lends itself quite well to this type of story. I think many readers will become instant fans.
