Frankie McGuire (Brad Pitt) opens the movie with a firefight in the streets of Belfast. Next he heads to the United States to purchase some Stinger missiles for his comrades in arms. Once in New York, with the help of a prominent judge, who happens to be an IRA sympathizer, Frankie assumes a false identity and bunks at Sgt. Tom O'Meara's (Harrison Ford) house, sharing meals with the family and bonding with O'Meara. Then things go sour. Deals fall apart. New deals are made. There are chases, and more chases. There's some shooting. Will he or won't he escape?

I was reluctant to watch this movie. From viewing the preview clips, I just couldn't buy the premise of Harrison Ford being a uniformed New York cop. Okay, I know they needed an Irish-American street cop, but is Harrison Ford really that cop? And a Sergeant, no less, after nearly 25 years of service? I'm sorry. After all of the other roles he's played, I just didn't buy Harrison Ford as a street cop. My other hesitation was Brad Pitt with an Irish accent, let alone playing an IRA gunman who's being sought by most of the British army.

Well, Brad Pitt surprised me. He carried off his role without a hitch. The same cannot be said of Harrison Ford. He was as unbelievable as I'd feared. But still a movie with Harrison Ford in it can't be all bad.

I'd give this one a mixed review. I genuinely liked Brad Pitt's character and the story as it related to him. The peripheral story of the New York city cops (O'Meara and his partner) was boring to me.
