DARKLY DREAMING DEXTER

Just when I thought all of the really interesting serial killers had been written about (fictional serial killers, I mean), along comes Jeff Lindsay to introduce Dexter Morgan. Dexter is the charismatic narrator of DARKLY DREAMING DEXTER. Dexter is squeamish at the sight of blood, which makes his job as a blood-splatter analyst for the Miami Police Department all that more challenging. His sister, Deb, is a Miami cop. Oh, by the way, Dexter is a serial killer. Not your average, run-of-the-mill serial killer mind you, he only kills bad people, those deserving to die. How nice.
Lindsay has created a "lovable monster" as some have described Dexter Morgan. He knows who he is and what he is, and he puts what most people would consider a fatal flaw to good use.
I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. And when I reached the end of the book, I wanted to turn back to page one and begin all over again. Luckily for me, and other fans of Dexter, Lindsay's second novel featuring the likable serial killer, DEARLY DEVOTED DEXTER, is scheduled for publication July 19, 2005 from Doubleday. You may pre-order at online vendors such as Amazon.com or ask your favorite bookseller to reserve a copy for you.
The paperback version of DARKLY DREAMING DEXTER is scheduled for release June 28, 2005 from Vintage Crime/Black Lizard Books. You may pre-order this one online too.
