THE FRIEND OF MADAME MAIGRET
By Georges Simenon

This mystery has a bit of a twist to it, as Inspector Maigret's wife is involved in the case.
As Madame Maigret is early for her dental appointment, she sits on a park bench outside the office. A young woman approaches looking panicky, and asks Madame Maigret to watch her small boy for a short while. Madame Maigret hardly has time to respond when the woman disappears. She does not return for hours, and when she does return, she grabs the boy and quickly departs, without a word of thanks. Madame Maigret is offended by the woman's rudeness and decides to try and track her down.
Unbeknownst to Madame Maigret the woman in the park is involved in a strange case Inspector Maigret is working on. A man is taken into custody, as two teeth have been found in his furnace. The evidence points to murder, but where is the rest of the body, and how is the woman in the park involved?
This Simenon mystery has also been printed under another title: MADAME MAIGRET'S OWN CASE.
