Doctor Temperance Brennan is a forensic anthropologist who usually divides her time between Charlotte, NC and Quebec, Canada. In this book, CROSS BONES she is called in to determine if an antiquities dealer and a devout Jewish man, Avram Ferris has committed suicide or been the victim of a murder. During her examination she is approached by another Jewish man who gives her a picture of a skeleton that Avram was said to have in his possession. A skeleton taken from Israel in 1963 and supposedly the cause of Avram's death.

Tempe and her lover Quebec detective Andrew Ryan soon find themselves in Israel in an attempt to solve the murder and the mystery of the bones that are believed to be the bones of some of Christ's family.

Unfortunately it appears that Kathy Reich is riding the coattails of the recent bestseller THE DA VINCI CODE. I did not read THE DA VINCI CODE but I could not help but notice the religious connection.

The story was tight and moved right along. However there were times when the reader had to suspend disbelief and plow ahead.
