Midsomer Murders Society aims to bring fans together at organized events like the annual "Midsummer in Midsomer" Fan Convention and smaller events via half-yearly newsletters. The annual membership fee is 10.00 (single/online) which includes the email newsletter and also discounts for Society events. This Society is run "by fans for fans." This is an unofficial fan site and is not connected to Bentley Productions, ITV or the actors.

Short Mystery Fiction Society welcome writers, editors, publishers, and readers of short mystery fiction. Current membership is more than 1,500. SMFS is a Yahoo Groups discussion forum. They also honor outstanding published fiction with the annual Derringer Awards, lifetime achievement with the Edward D. Hoch Memorial Golden Derringer, and deceased writers of importance to the genre with the Short Mystery Fiction Hall of Fame.
