Book restorer Brooklyn Wainwright was both nervous and excited to attend a presentation given by her former friend and mentor Abraham Karastovsky. It had been six months since she last heard of him, when she had decided to start her own business and Abraham got upset. Fortunately, things seemed to have settled down, and Abraham didn't appear to be mad at her anymore. Unfortunately, her happiness to be friends with him again didn't last enough since later that evening she found him dying from a gunshot in an isolated room. To make things worse, British security officer Derek Stone finds her next to the dying man and of course points to her as his main suspect. Brooklyn is determined to find the real killer not only to clear her name but to honor Abraham's memory, and to do so she must know what is behind Abraham's current assignment which was to restore a copy of Goethe's Faust.
I found this a really interesting, fast-moving story which got me stuck to its pages until I got to the end. Great start for a promising series.
