A sudden death leads Miss Marple to suspect that all is not shipshape on the merchant training vessel of which she is a newly appointed trustee. So, dressed in her finest nautical attire, she finagles her way aboard and soon discovers her life may be in danger. On board with cutthroat thieves, Miss Marple must keep her wits about her if she is to make it back to shore alive and in one piece.

I thoroughly enjoyed Margaret Rutherford's version of Miss Marple. It was fun and energetic. I loved the swashbuckling sword fight, too, between herself and the murderer. I don't care if Agatha Christie hated Margaret Rutherford as Miss Marple. I love her and her sidekick, Mr. Stringer!

For those who want to give this Miss Marple a try, you can now purchase the four movies (MURDER AT THE GALLOP, MURDER AHOY, MURDER MOST FOUL, and MURDER SHE SAID) as separate DVDs. Before, they were only sold as boxed sets. Or better yet, rent one or two of the movies and see if you don't think Rutherford does a fine Miss Marple.

I enjoy all of the Miss Marples, including the written version. As to the films, each actress brings something of her own interpretation to the role, and it's not as if we, the viewers can't tell one from the other!
