82 Desire (a Skip Langdon novel)
By Julie Smith

Fawcett Columbine Hardcover, September, 1998

This was the first Julie Smith book I have read. It is part of a series starring a New Orleans detective named Skip Langdon. I got the impression that it would have been better to read her earlier books first, to get a better idea of the characters.

In this book a well to do oil company worker has disappeared without a trace. His wife is a New Orleans Councilwoman. Tie into the story, a young black woman , add a poet that goes by the name Talba Wallis, a dead private detective, a famous newspaper reporter, miscellaneous dead bodies, and the story begins to roll.

This book was a bit hard to read but I think that was due to the fact that I read the book out of order (in the series) and was not aware of the founding characters.
